From a young age, Jason has reveled in the art of creation, transforming raw materials into extraordinary works. Raised amidst the beauty of rural NE Kansas on his family’s dairy farm, he honed his skills in the craft of construction. His journey began during high school, where he gained experience working for a concrete company, and continued for five fruitful years on a framing crew, erecting new homes. It was during this time that the spark ignited within him to forge his own path.
In 2009 Jason felt an undeniable calling to leap into entrepreneurship while Melissa was halfway into her first year of teaching. Since that pivotal moment, their venture has blossomed from a humble two-person operation to a thriving enterprise, once boasting three framing crews, culminating in Jason achieving his aspiration of primarily serving as a general contractor.
Jason finds joy in contributing to his community, actively participating on local boards such as the Lawrence Home Builders Association and his parish council. On some days, he dons his tool belt, a pencil tucked behind his ear, enveloped in the dust of his craft; on others, he traverses various job sites, engaging with both new and returning clients. His passion for blending his craft with business and hands-on labor fuels his desire to create remarkable structures.
Meanwhile, Melissa’s role has evolved over time, and she now plays a pivotal part behind the scenes. She crafts and curates the digital landscape, designing their blog, website, YouTube channel, and social media platforms on Facebook and Instagram.
Additionally, she diligently monitors the client experience, collaborating with their team to ensure that the journey of home building is both enjoyable and memorable. Having constructed two personal homes, she understands the importance of nurturing relationships throughout this process, ensuring that both partners feel empowered in their significant investment. Aware that emotions can run high during such endeavors, her mission is to equip the team with the tools necessary to maintain open communication, guiding clients through choices that they will cherish for years to come.
When we embarked on our journey with Jason Tanking Construction, we were childless, but now our lives are blessed with four daughters who have become well-acquainted with job sites and hands-on construction tasks. They likely possess a wealth of knowledge about tools and machinery that surpasses that of many children! This endeavor is a family affair, and we cherish the opportunity to impart lessons about running a business while upholding a steadfast moral compass and being trustworthy stewards of our clients’ resources..
