What if we lived on the Kansas prairie and we could watch every sunrise and sunset from our porch?
Living on the prairie of Kansas
When you find a piece of land that you want to build on, it often shapes how you design your home. You start to think about how you want to spend your days, what you want to use your property for, and then it starts shaping your home.
This white, two-story farmhouse is exceptional but it fits the setting like a storybook! A two-story farmhouse with classic features and loads of natural lighting, it’s dreamy!
Classic Kansas farmhouse features
What makes a farmhouse a classic? Is it the staircase, the bookshelves, the fireplace, the walk-in pantry, or the porches? While everyone has a different take on the classic Kansas farmhouse, this home is filled with timeless characteristics that have stood the test of time.
We love the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in the study that make the home feel majestic. The wood flooring accented by the classic white brings out the beauty of the staircase, especially when the golden rays are shining in the windows! The living room is warmed by the oversized fireplace and flanked by large windows. When you want to get some fresh air, the front and the back porches offer excellent views of the Kansas horizon!
Spice it up with modern functions
Stainless steal appliances in the kitchen are paired with subway tile and white quartz countertops. In the pantry the homeowners added a butcher block countertop to accent the white shelves and wood flooring. In the bathrooms the homeowners picked out eclectic white tile with traditional vanities and finishes to tie everything together.
In the basement they have fully functional use of the extra space for entertainment.
Each space flows from room to room without feeling too tight or closed-off, mainly due to the abundance of natural lighting offered!
Winter or summer, the invitations are open!
When the bedrooms are on a separate level of the home, it really changes the dynamic of having company over because they’re likely to stay on the main level or outside. This home invites guests outside to either of the porches or to the great room to watch the cooking and enjoying the fireplace. All the spaces on the main level offer excellent views of the prairie and provides conversation starters from the weather to the wilderness!
